Minecraft Chat Reporting Features will be Available, Says Mojang

Minecraft's chat reporting and moderation features were unveiled last month and then received feedback from the community that criticized them as insufficient for the task. Mojang has confirmed that they will continue to utilize the tools, despite some harsh criticisms and reasoning.


MojangMeesh the community manager on Reddit, put up a post explaining the decision. "We are grateful for and appreciate all your feedback, but it doesn't mean that feedback will ever alter the principles of design Mojang Studios adheres to - this includes upcoming reporting system." The second paragraph in the comment states that players have been posting comments on complaints made by Mojang employees. Harassment is a concern and is ironically the purpose of the tools for reporting in the first place.


Many players, in response this comment, have expressed that they don't feel as though they're being listened to. To them, every one of their Minecraft servers is a safe haven of sorts and shouldn't be subject to any kind of moderating if they don't want it to be. These features can be removed from your server by using Spigot or CurseForge mods.

If there are no complaints or discussions regarding the features, it is natural for players to feel dissatisfied. A lot of people have over a decade in this game and, as adults, believe that they shouldn't be watched. It's important to keep in mind that Minecraft is a game with numerous younger players. Therefore security features must be in place to protect them. It doesn't appear that things will change anytime soon though.
